1. License Grant

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal or internal organizational use. This Agreement does not grant you any intellectual property rights.

2. Use Restrictions

You agree that you will not:

1. Modify, decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer the App.
2. Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices.
3. Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
4. Rent, lease, sell, sublicense, or distribute the App.

3. Privacy Principles

3.1 On-device processing

All core features of Yulan run locally on your Mac with a complete on-device privacy protection mechanism, including:

• Knowledge base building and search: all document processing and indexing are completed locally.
• AI inference: when using local models, all inference computation is performed on your device.
• Data storage: all data (knowledge base, custom replies, settings, etc.) is stored locally on your device.

3.2 Data collection and use

Yulan does not collect, store, or transmit your personal information or the contents of files you process, except when:

• You configure a remote API model: if you choose to use a remote API model, your query content will be sent to the corresponding API provider. Please read the provider's privacy policy carefully before use.
• Crash logs: the system may automatically collect crash logs to help improve the App, but these logs do not contain your personal data or file contents.

3.3 Permissions

Yulan may request the following permissions to function properly. Each permission has a clear purpose:

• File access (read/write):
  • Purpose: build the knowledge base and read documents you explicitly import.
  • Only accesses files you choose to import.
  • You can manage this permission at any time in System Settings.
• Full Disk Access (optional):
  • Purpose: enable file search to quickly find files and applications on your Mac.
  • This permission is optional and does not affect core features.
  • You can manage this permission at any time in System Settings.

3.4 Where data is stored

All Yulan data is stored locally on your device:

• Knowledge base data: stored in the App's local database.
• Custom replies: stored in the App's local database.
• App settings: stored in the App's local settings.
• Model files: stored under the App directory (when using local models).

No data is uploaded to any remote server.

3.5 Screenshot data

This section describes the collection, use, disclosure, sharing, and retention of data related to the screen and screenshots.

• We do not record the screen: Yulan does not continuously record, capture, or store your screen content.
• User-initiated screenshots: The App provides a "Quick Screenshot" button in the floating window toolbar. When you tap it, we invoke the system screenshot tool; the action is user-initiated. The screenshot goes only to the system clipboard; if you choose to insert the screenshot into the input area, we save it only as a temporary file on your device for on-device text recognition (OCR), so you can ask the assistant about text in the image.
• Temporary file location: Such screenshot temporary files are stored only in the following location on your Mac (the YulanPastedImages subdirectory under the system temporary directory): ~/Library/Containers/run.opens.Yulan/Data/tmp/YulanPastedImages (when running in a sandbox; the exact container ID may vary on your system). Temporary files are cleared when you remove the thumbnail from the input area, pin a result, or close the floating window, and total size is capped (about 50MB); older files are automatically removed when the cap is exceeded.
• Purpose: We do not collect "screen recording" information. Screenshots are user-initiated, one-time actions; temporary files are used only for OCR within the current session and for no other purpose.
• Disclosure and sharing: We do not share any screen recording data or screenshot temporary files with any third party. Except when you voluntarily use recognized content to query a remote model, screenshots and OCR results are not sent to our servers.
• Retention: Screenshot temporary files are kept only briefly in the temporary directory above and are deleted when the session ends or when the cleanup conditions above are met; we do not retain or back up these files.

3.6 Data deletion and control

You have full control over your data:

• You can delete documents in the knowledge base at any time.
• You can delete custom replies at any time.
• You can reset all settings at any time.
• When you uninstall the App, all data will be deleted (unless you manually back it up).

4. Data Security

4.1 Local security

Yulan uses the following measures to protect your local data:

• All data is stored in the App sandbox and cannot be accessed by other apps.
• Uses system-provided secure storage mechanisms.
• Does not store passwords or sensitive credentials in plain text.

4.2 Remote API usage

If you choose to use a remote API model:

• Your query content will be sent to the corresponding API provider.
• Please ensure you trust the provider.
• We recommend not processing highly sensitive information via remote APIs.
• Credentials such as API keys are stored locally and will not be leaked.

5. File Processing Responsibility

You agree that you are responsible for all files you access and process with the App, including but not limited to:

1. Ensuring you have lawful rights to access and process such files.
2. Safekeeping and backing up processed files.
3. Using and processing files responsibly.
4. Complying with all applicable data protection laws and regulations.
5. Not using the App to process illegal or infringing content.

6. Disclaimer

The App is provided "as is" without any express or implied warranties, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages arising from use of or inability to use the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

The developer is not responsible for any data loss or corruption caused by using the App. You should back up important data regularly.

The developer is not responsible for the accuracy, reliability, or suitability of AI-generated content. You should review and verify any AI-generated content.

7. Third-Party Services

Yulan may use the following third-party services:

• Remote API services: if you configure remote API models, your queries will be sent to the corresponding API provider. Please read the provider's privacy policy and terms of service carefully before use.
• App Store: if you download the App via the App Store, your download and usage are subject to the App Store terms of service.

The App is not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or terms of service of any third-party services.

8. Updates & Maintenance

We may release updates from time to time to fix bugs, improve performance, or add new features. You may choose whether to install these updates.

Updates may include:

• Feature improvements and new features
• Bug fixes
• Security patches
• Updates to embedded models (delivered with App version updates)

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the App at any time, and we will make reasonable efforts to notify users in advance.

9. Intellectual Property

The App and all related intellectual property rights belong to the developer. This Agreement does not grant you any intellectual property rights.

10. Termination

If you violate any term of this Agreement, this Agreement will automatically terminate. After termination, you must stop using the App and destroy all copies of the App.

You may stop using the App and uninstall it at any time. When uninstalling, all local data will be deleted (unless you manually back it up).

11. Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to conflict of law principles.

In case of disputes, both parties shall resolve them through friendly negotiation. If negotiation fails, either party may bring a lawsuit in a competent People's Court.

12. Changes to This Agreement

We reserve the right to modify this Agreement at any time. The modified Agreement will take effect when the App is updated or when we notify you by other means.

Continued use of the App indicates acceptance of the modified Agreement. If you do not agree to the modified Agreement, please stop using the App.

13. Minors

If you are a minor, please read this Agreement with your guardian and use the App only with your guardian's consent.

Guardians should supervise minors' use and are responsible for their behavior when using the App.

15. Miscellaneous

If any provision of this Agreement is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain valid.

This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and the developer regarding use of the App and supersedes all prior oral or written agreements.
